Vote Ends Lockout at AK Steel3/17/2007 March 14, 2007 - IAM members at AK Steel in Middletown, OH, voted overwhelmingly to approve a new contract that secures workers' pensions and brings an end to the nearly 13-month long lockout. The vote was 1,275 in favor, 226 opposed. The new contract, which calls for all workers to return to work within 90 days, will take effect March 15 and run through September 2011. Terms of the agreement also call for wages ranging from $15.66 to $21.50 per hour for most employees and for AK Steel to begin contributing to the IAM National Pension Plan.
